I shot this buck on November 7, 2009. I was hunting down in the flats about 75 yard off of a small creek. Just before daybreak I heard a grunt and a twig snap;turning toward the sound I could make out what turned out to be a small spike buck. Still early and a little too dark to shoot I watched as he moved up the hill behind my stand. With some signs of the rut starting show I thought I would stay on stand until about noon. About 10:30 I decided to cut a branch that was rubbing and making noise. Having done that I settled in for the stay until 12:00. About five minutes till noon I glanced behind me and about 70 yards away I noticed the back half of a deer that turned out to be this four point . Slowly I reached for my bow hoping he would make his way to my position. And sure enough he walked in within 15 yards of my stand. At 15 yards to my left he stopped putting his nose to the ground,as he did that I drew back placing my pin on the kill zone and released. With a perfect hit right through the rib cage and passing completely through he took off only to start staggering at about 60 yards out, then down he went out of sight by the creek. I called my son Matthew to tell him the good news and asked him to help me drag the deer to my truck. At 60 years old I only shoot 42 pounds out of my Mathews FX bow. My Carbon tech arrow complete with weight tube , 3.25 inch QuickSpin fletching, and a 125 grain Muzzy Phantom broadhead, weighs 514 grains. P.S. After passing though the deer and sticking into the ground the broadhead is still in tact. A little sharpening and I will use the Phantom another day. Great hunt . Great broadhead. Thanks, Ernie
